Jomtien Beach Pattaya

About 2km south of Pattaya Beach lies Jomtien Beach, a long, straight 6km stretch of sandy coastline that is a lot less chaotic and crowded than Pattaya. New hotels, resorts, condominiums, shops and restaurants are rising fast, but they are more spread out and, for now at least, haven't plundered Jomtiens quiet down-to-earth charm. It's much more peaceful and laid-back than Pattaya Beach too.

With its straight beach and few moored boats, Jomtien is a popular place for water sport enthusiasts, with jetskiing, paragliding, wind surfing and more activities available. And there are offbeat sights and activities to enjoy too: the
Pattaya Park Tower with revolving restaurant and panoramic views, paintball and the glitzy cultural show Alangkarn.
Jomtien is at its busiest and most built-up where Thap Phraya Road (a winding road linking South Pattaya with Jomtien) greets the northern end of the beach. Budget guesthouses, luxury hotels and condominiums loom above low-rise restaurants, cafés, beer bars and shops, all of which flank the inland side of Beach Road.
Deck Chairs and Beach vendors
For a paltry sum, deck chairs and large umbrellas can be hired, and their friendly proprietors fix you up with drinks and Thai snacks (salads, seafood, noodles etc). Hawkers with a friendlier, less pushy demeanor than those on Pattaya Beach stroll these sands offering drinks, food, Thai massages, snacks and souvenirs. Bargain if and when necessary.
Lining the road on the opposite side of the beach area is a low-slung parade, with convenience stores and good Thai, international and seafood restaurants. Bored of admiring seaview vistas? Do the beach the grown-up Thai way, and sip glasses of watered down whisky while snacking and sheltering from the sun. Alternatively, hire a bicycle and explore the palm-fringed promenade, or get some friends together for a sunset game on the volleyball court.
Where and What to Eat Jomtien Beach

There are many places to eat in Jomtien. That said, the range of food on offer isn’t quite as diverse or delectable as in Pattaya Beach. No-frills expatriate run restaurants and bars serving European and Thai cuisine abound. Swiss, British, German, Dutch, Indian, Chinese and Russian it’s all here. Along the busy northern seafront parade are lots of seafood restaurants. And every hotel has a restaurant or two catering to its guests and visitors.
Ironically some of the best food is to be had on the beach. Laze beneath a deck chair and umbrella while your vendor whisks Thai snacks straight to your plastic table. 'Tom yam talay'soup, 'pad Thai', spicy seafood salads and more. It's invariably cheap, usually delicious and you can enjoy uninterrupted sea views while eating!
Jomtien Beach Activities
If you prefer a quiet zone during the day, Jomtien Beach - around the headland from Pattaya Beach - has a real beach flavour. Jomtien Beach is Thailand's premier windsurfing destination with lots of watersports like windsurfing and paragliding on offer.
If you get bored with chilling out on the beach, or of all that warm tropical water, there are go-karts to race, elephants to ride and countless other attractions to visit!
Pattaya Kart Speedway
Pattaya Kart Speedway offers two go-kart tracks, a bungee to get the adrenaline going and an off-road vehicle track. While Formula One addicts can do a Schumacher impression at KR Go Kart - a 400-metre race track (ok they're only 50cc engines, but a lot of fun!) With separate tracks for amateur and professional drivers, it’s the ideal place to take on your friends for a few rounds of thrilling driving adventure.

Pattaya Park

Fun for the whole family is on the cards at this amusement park with its gigantic slide, Jacuzzis and a seaside tower - at 240 metres the highest in Pattaya - with a revolving restaurant at the top. The view from the observation deck at the top is panoramic and quite exquisite – especially at sunset. There are three options available for visitors to choose how they would like to get back on the ground: Sky Shutter, Speed Shutter, or Tower Jump – depending on how much of an adrenalin rush you prefer.
