Pattaya International Fireworks Competition began on Friday Night and thousands converged on Pattaya to enjoy the show. It is thought that around 20,000 individual fireworks will be launched into the sky from floating barges along Pattaya Beach over the 2 day competition. The event is being held to honor the 84th birthday of His Majesty The King and was opened by Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya. Many enjoyed the fireworks from restaurants located along Pattaya Beach and Walking Street and hundreds made their way to the Pattaya Viewpoint on Pratamnuk Mountain. Displays from teams originating from Thailand, Italy, USA, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Japan, China, Australia and Germany, lit-up the skies of Pattaya for almost 3 hours on Friday Night. Saturday Night’s competition is expected to be even more impressive and the fireworks begin at 6pm.
